Mason had his first experience with Santa today...he loved him as long as we were holding him and he was looking at Santa..but once Santa got his hands on him he was NOT happy! But after it was all said and done, him and Santa came to an agreement to be friends and Mason gave him five and everything was okay!
As most of you know, we have two dogs that are amazing with Mason! He pulls and rubs and sometimes smacks them harder than he should but they take it so well, especially Apollo. He will sit and take pretty much anything Mason dished out! The other night we grabbed the camera to show what a "Good Puppy" Apollo is. Mason would much rather play with the dog toys than his own which is pretty funny cause they have no lights, sounds or fun things they do! The video says it all! I have to say kudos to Apollo for being such a good sport!
Okay...so I know many of you are going to criticize right now with him sitting on the potty so young, but oh well! It works! He has been amazed by this potty in his room, so we decided to try it out. The first time we used it we saw him trying to go potty in his diaper so we rushed him upstairs and put him on the potty...he went stinky. After that...the next day we sat him on the potty and he knew exactly what to do, he did both in the potty pretty much as soon as he sat down. It is amazing how now he knows what that potty is for! He gets the funniest look on his face once he knows what he did. He's so proud of himself!! He is so cute sitting there too!
I know it has been a while since I posted anything, but I usually try to wait for good blogging moments so you don't have to read about how many times Mason went stinky today! Well...his first Thanksgiving is definitely blog worthy! We had my family and Bobby's family down for the holiday. With the table all set we pulled up his high chair to the table too. I took turkey and sweet potatoes and pureed them for Mason. He LOVED it! Though, I haven't found many foods he doesn't love! He did so good through out the meal; he just sat there and watched and ate. Now he always eats in his chair at the table like a big boy! The first Turkey Day was a huge success!!
Well....this is officially his first bandaid worthy boo boo and Mommy gave it to him! When I was undressing him last night for bath the zipper on the front of his outfit caught his skin on his chest. There was a little blood and a lot of tears but he is okay now. I put some antibiotic ointment and one of his camo bandaids on it and he is all better now! I hope it will heal up without a scar!!! He doesn't even act like anything happened...I think it hurts Mommy more than Mason!
Mason has crossed over into the realm of standing! He would much rather stand now than be sitting. The first thing we wants to do when Daddy gets home is stand up...for some reason standing with Daddy is way more cool than standing with Mommy! He is trying to pull up on everything. I went in his room the other day and he had his bumpers almost off and trying to get up and escape! He is so happy when he stands, like he made the biggest accomplishment! It is the cutest thing to see that big smile when he realizes what he has done. I know it won't be long before he lets go and takes those first steps!
Bobby and Mason carved a pumpkin for our front porch for Halloween...well Bobby did more of the carving and Mason played with a pie pan on the floor next to the pumpkin but he never took his eyes off Daddy! He was intrigued when it was lit up. I think this has officially become a yearly thing for us!
Halloween was so much fun! Mason loved it...well until he fell asleep half way through! He was the cutest pumpkin I have ever seen! Once he figured out that they put stuff in his bag he was so excited. He started shaking the bag over and over...I assume to hear the candy rattle. About half way through Bobby held him to warm him up and of course, he fell asleep...well that doesn't mean that the candy should stop, so Benton took his bag and continued on! By the end of the night he was tuckered out! It was so much fun for us and Mason!
I am going to try something new....for all those times where there are too many pictures to add to the blog (like now)...I have created an online photo album (you can save the photos the same way you do on here). I hope this works and is a little easier to get all the great moments we have captured!
Well...the doctor said that Mason has a bad virus. He's worried that it could easily turn to something worse, so we need to watch him and take good care of him. He did sleep better last night after....cranking up the heat, a SudaCare plug, a humidifier, sucking his nose then pumping it full of saline, Tylenol and Benedryl and propping him up on his Boppy to sleep! That seems like a lot...but that was all doctor ordered! His cough is still really bad and he is still getting choked a lot....hopefully that will start to clear up!
So basically we are in a waiting game to see if it starts to get better on its own. If it isn't any better by tomorrow we have to go back to the doctor and if it isn't a lot better by Thursday we have to go back!
Hopefully, there will be continued improvement! He's so pitiful because he can't breathe and coughs so bad....bad thing is we still find it cute! (everything he does it cute)
The dictionary defines a mother as "a person that performs the tasks or duties of a female parent". The more I think about this the more I think the dictionary may say that is what a mother is but they have no clue about being a MOMMY!
I thought I had figured out what being a mother was....I have done the middle of the night feedings, the 15 diaper changes a day, the 3 loads of laundry a week, the playing blocks in the floor, the trips to the park, the singing songs and of course, the (what seems like endless) feedings. But last night I realized there is a BIG difference between a Mother and a Mommy!
Since Bobby and I have been married we have never slept apart other than one of us being on a trip and we can't avoid it...but last night I slept upstairs so I could be close to Mason. You see, a few days ago he got the sniffles, well yesterday it turned into a very croupy cough and he couldn't breath...he kept choking while trying to breathe. We tried to put him to bed but he kept waking up crying because he couldn't breathe well...we thought of putting him in bed with us but Me, Bobby, 2 dogs and a baby is a bed full! So I went upstairs to sleep...after having to get up and go calm him down several times from coughing and choking I finally decided to put him in bed with me and Sadie (Apollo slept downstairs with Bobby). He woke up every hour coughing and crying because he couldn't breathe.
Somewhere about 4 am I realized that this is what being a Mommy must be about. I didn't sleep, but it was okay...I spent the whole night with him on my arm which eventually went to sleep and I couldn't feel it anymore, but it was okay...I patted him until I thought my arm would fall off and then...I patted him some more and still it was okay! I realized that no matter what I had to sacrifice it was all worth it if he could sleep just a little better! I realized that I could do without a lot of things if it made his life just a little easier! I realized I was holding my world in my arms!!
So after a night of all that....today I am very tired and worried about Mason! He is still not breathing well and coughing a lot. He can't eat without choking because he can't eat and breathe at the same time. He is sleeping off and on, but he has to sleep sitting up cause it seems to help a little with the coughing. We are waiting to go the doctor at 2:15..hopefully he can give him something to help "break up" the junk. I will try to get something posted to update you all on what the doctor says.
I can say that I get it now....I love my little Buddy!!!
Mason's Papa, my Daddy, gave Mason a ducky bathtub long before he was born. It is the cutest thing....it quacks when you press his beak. Mason finally got to where he was trying to move around in his bathtub but couldn't because of the hump in the middle. So, I decided to get out his "big boy" tub. He LOVED it. He normally has toys that he plays with, however now the bathtub itself has become his toy. He likes to blow on the side like we blow on his belly to make noise! There is a plug in the bottom that I open to let the water out. I did this while he was in the tub and you should have seen his face when he noticed all the water was draining out. He's so smart, he grabbed the cap and tried to put it back on...I guess he thought if he stopped it from draining somehow that would fill the tub back up! He loves bath time but now it's even funnier to watch him in his ducky!
Well, now Mason can say all he wants for Christmas is one front tooth! He officially has a tooth!! It is on his bottom left. I usually check about every two days to see if I can see anything. Today when I opened his mouth..there it was..a little white "pearl" that was through the gum! He officially is a "big boy" now....sad! While we were in North Carolina we noticed a tooth that is trying to come through, but it is odd...it is on the back on his right side...we are still not sure what that is about. Maybe that one will take a while to work through...don't know! All I know is my baby has his first baby tooth!!!
(Sorry there is no picture...try taking a picture of a baby's gums)
Today was a first for us.....we took a family trip to the pumpkin patch! We went to pick out our jack-o-lantern pumpkin, some pumpkins to make Mason some baby food and some mini ones for Thanksgiving. He had a lot of fun...he liked all the orange pumpkins (he knows what color is best..ha ha, go Tigers) I think that will definitely be a yearly tradition for us!
Mason has graduated to shoes with laces!! Of course, he still tries to get them off, but each time it ends in defeat. He doesn't fuss about them, he just thinks that if he kicks enough they will fall off! These are his new "sneakers" that are so cute!!
Mason loves his Daddy! It is amazing to watch his face light up just to hear his voice. Bobby decided to aerate our lawn the other day and borrowed our neighbor's riding mower. Bobby was going to drive it back next door and he decided he need a little help driving, so Mason thought he would step in and help Daddy. He loved his ride (it was only about 2 minutes) but it was with Daddy, so that's all that matters to him!!
After the doctor's appointment on Friday, Mason was "approved" to move on to food! He doesn't want to stop any breast feedings so he will be breastfeeding five times a day (one being wake up and one being bedtime) and eating breakfast, lunch and dinner of baby food...that's a LOT of feedings to handle, but it's all good. It was an exciting day for the Noble household. I left the doctor and went to the store and got one jar of everything....I figured I would try all of them to see what he likes best. I am planning on making my own baby food, but I want to see what he likes before I go buy all those fresh veggies and fruit. We started with peas....they smell horrible! I couldn't stand the smell so Bobby fed him! I tried but just couldn't do it. He liked the peas...he's had them twice so far and really likes them. Saturday I tried squash...he didn't like that so much, however I gave them to him again on Sunday night and they went over much better. I have decided to do fruit in the morning and veggies for lunch and dinner. I don't want him to get used to peas and carrots for breakfast! Sunday morning I tried prunes...he LOVED those!! And yes...they worked wonders by Sunday night. That's another good poop story...it was EVERYWHERE!!!! Sunday night was the squash again. This morning was bananas...WOW he ate the WHOLE jar....that is by far his favorite so far! They smelled bad too..I'm thinking I need to make my own baby food so I can stand to feed it to him! Needless to say, the food has gone over very well with him. He loves to eat. It's great!!
We went to the doctor on Friday. Mason loves Dr. Andrews...he's awesome. He said everything was looking great and keep up what we are doing! He is 15 lbs 4 oz. He's growing perfectly. He said that his teeth are definitely coming in, we just have to wait! Mason got 4 shots, two in each leg. He didn't cry after the first one, however the second one was twice as bad as usual. You would have thought that the nurse broke his heart. He loves Jennifer, the nurse, but after those shots he wouldn't even look at her! He is all better now...he got 4 Snoopy's and everything is good!
For those of you who don't want to hear about baby poop, please redirect yourself to another page!
I know that baby poop is probably the last thing you want to read about, however today was the WORST experience I have every had with changing Mason's diaper. As most of you know, we have had issues with Mason going stinky...so we don't complain when it happens. Well, today it happened!!
Like a lot of times, the poop had leaked just a little on his clothes, so I needed to change them. When I undid his diaper there was more poop than ever before. I don't see how all that came out of him! Needless to say, it was a mess to clean up. I used baby wipe after baby wipe and it still was stuck to his bottom. (He is a breastfed only baby so his poop isn't like adult poop yet) In the midst of trying to "scrub" it off, Mason decides to start moving his feet, which gets poop all over both of them. As if that wasn't enough, he stuck his hands "down there" and got them covered in poop and wiped it all over his belly. He even had poop in his belly button! The more I wiped the more I found. After I got done I went to put a new diaper on and all I could smell was poop. After all that wiping, I now had a poop free baby that smelled like poop!! The smell wouldn't go away. I finally had to put him in the bathtub! I just sat him in the shower and started washing. I eventually got all the poop smell off. Mason is now radiating a wonderful "baby" smell!!
I would say that Mason had a milk mustache, however that would only be half accurate. As many of you know, Mason has acid reflux pretty bad so he throws up A LOT! It has become second nature in our home and it is not a big deal anymore--even to Mason. He has learned how to throw up and keep his pacifier in his mouth at the same time! His passy is like a plug, but when he throws up the pressure behind it causes it to "spew"--that causes the throw up to come out in all different directions. We looked at him and noticed that he had thrown up and it had spewed like normal but this time it left a throw up mustache. It was so nasty but funny at the same time!
Well....things have been really busy for us lately. Beth's grandpa passed away on Sunday morning so we have been running here and there since we got back from NC on Sunday. Sunday night Bobby fed Mason his cereal and Mason wanted to play...I assume that he thought Daddy was more fun than Mommy. While he was eating he got some cereal in his eye. During his bath I washed his face thinking it was all out, but he kept rubbing it. When I took him upstairs to put on his PJs I noticed that there was a HUGE glob of cereal in his eye. Every time he blinked you could see it and then it would go back under his top lid. I was scared it would scratch his eye! I called my mom (she works for a ophthalmologist) and she said to flush it out with water. The only thing we had to squirt water with was an unused medical syringe. Bobby filled it with bottled water and pushed it out...we didn't realize how forceful the water came out! Lets just say that Mason was more than shocked when the water came flying at his eye! We had to do it about 10 or so times to get the cereal out....about 3 times into it he would flip out at the water squirting but then laugh! Of course, us being the new parents we are, we grabbed the camera to capture this moment.
Mason is good...he acts like nothing ever happened. I think it was way more traumatic for Mommy and Daddy than Mason!
This past Sunday we bought him a jumper. It has more activities than he knows what to do with! He loves it. He has finally figured out that if he jumps he bounces. I have to say...who ever thought up this toy was a genius.
I am a sinner saved by God's grace! I am a stay-at-home mom who is just trying my best to be a Godly mother and wife, I fail most days, but I learn things along the way that hopefully, will help someone else deal with the challenges of life!
My amazing hubby who loves his family beyond belief. He is an amazing dad and husband. He is my best friend! I couldn't ask for a better man.
This is our oldest! He is a true joy. We love the mind of a two year old, he is SO smart. He cracks us up every day!
Our youngest, now over a year, is a thinker who loves to smile and laugh!
