Bad...Bad...no wait...Good...Good....

It seems like all I've done lately is complain. Complain to Mr. Goodbar, complain on Facebook, just complain out loud to anyone who was listening (and sometimes to just the air). It seems like I can manage to pick out the "poor pitiful me" in every situation, but I think that is human nature. I think all of us, and I do mean ALL, have tendency to do just that. We think about everything that is going on and want to focus on what we could have more of, better of, better situation, etc...

We've had our share of issues within the last month. Our Twix had pneumonia and an ear infection, Junior Mint had a horrible cold and we were supposed to leave for Disney in a few days. Junior Mint is acting very "toddlerish". Our hot water heater broke on the last day of the year and we had to buy a new one, we had 5 1/2 inches of snow and the city shut down for a week and we couldn't go anywhere or do anything.

As I sat here and was thinking of how crappy our month has been I was checking out Facebook. I saw someone who was at a funeral for a young person that died of cancer, I read a friend's blog who had childhood cancer and she spoke of the people she knew with cancer who either survived or didn't. All the sudden I realized my life is pretty awesome!

My kids were sick, but I have amazing boys that just had a little junk, they are healthy and happy. They don't have major illnesses and I pray daily that they are healthy and safe! Junior Mint may be acting a little crazy but he can walk and talk and hear just fine (notice I said hear and not listen, ha ha) Twix couldn't go to Disney because he was so sick, well, I have WONDERFUL family that could keep him and still allow us to take Junior Mint. Mr. Goodbar has a great job where we were allowed to tag along so we could go to Disney! Our hot water heater broke, but we have running water, hot water, clean water!! We also have the ability to replace it without having to worry too much about it. The snow...well, I love snow so I was so happy to get some but wasn't happy about not being able to go anywhere for a week. Thankfully, my husband has a job where he will get paid for not working. We have wonderful neighbors that kept Twix so we could at least go out with Junior Mint. We were safe and warm in our home. We had plenty of food to last through the "storm". We have an awesome life!

It's really easy to get caught up in the "why me's" and the "why not me's", but that's not what we are called to do. God tells us to stay the course, focus on him and not get distracted. We can't get caught up in the things we don't have or the things that are happening to us now. We are blessed far beyond what we deserve! We deserve death, but God sent his son to die for us so we don't have to spend eternity in Hell. We have been given life, that's so much more than money or comfort here!!

James 1:12
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Matthew 6:19-34
I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, "What shall we eat?" or "What shall we drink?" or "What shall we wear?" For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
